Trip is a bit of a misnomer for this entry. We live in Boston and as such aren't traveling far when we head down to the Charles. For several years we've had the idea of being a "tourist in our own city." In our lives running from place to place it is all too easy to forget to look around at all the wonderful history that we surrounds us. This idea was so far ahead of its time that the City of Boston has used it for for their "Visit the Pin" campaign.
After the great rainstorms of March had finally abated we took several photo walks down to the Charles. The goal was to feed our creative energies and enjoy the lovely weather. Jen needed to get more hands on experience with the 30d. Although we visited a few times in close succession, the area is so dynamic that is was very cool to see the changes that happened in such little time. We were also treated to some spectacular skies.
There are many buildings and other locations in Boston that I love. There are others that challenge my ability to capture with the camera what I see in my mind's eye. The Zakim bridge is a relatively recent addition to both lists.
Part of the challenge with capturing the bridge is finding an accessible location that offers a good perspective. For these shots we approached the inner harbor from the direction of Charestown and walked towards the bridge through Paul Revere Park. As much as I prefer the original blue lighting, the evening sky offered us a spectacular backdrop. It is interesting to note that Jen's pictures cast the sky with more green which is also very striking.
